How quickly can I get back to life after a hernia repair surgery?

A Hernia is an abnormal protrusion of the intestine or part of it through an abnormal opening in the wall that normally contains it. It usually presents as a swelling noticed by the patient. Hernia repair refers to a surgical operation for the correction of a hernia. The two main types of hernia repair surgeries are:

Laparoscopic Hernia Repair Surgery
Open Hernia Repair Surgery
Recovery from hernia after a laparoscopic surgery begins with the commencement of fluids and diet 5 hrs after surgery. The patient is mobilized on the same day of the surgery. The following day patient typically goes home. In the case of more complex hernia repairs, the patient has a hospital stay for a further 2 -3 days, Resumption of work begins 2 -3 days after surgery. Travel can be resumed 5 days after surgery.

Difference between partial colectomy and total colectomy?

Colectomy is a surgical procedure to remove all or part of your colon. Your colon, also called your large intestine, is a long tubelike organ at the end of your digestive tract. A  colectomy surgery  may be done to treat and prevent diseases and conditions that affect the colon, such as: Crohn’s disease Colon cancer Diverticulitis Bowel obstruction Total colectomy surgery involves removing the entire colon. After this is removed, the end of the small intestine is sewn to the rectum to allow for continued waste disposal of the body. Partial colectomy involves removing part of the colon and may also be called subtotal colectomy. This resections a part of the colon and sometimes relies on alternative methods of waste management for the body. DR.
