Is hernia repair surgery safe?

A hernia occurs when fatty tissue or an organ pushes through a weak place in the surrounding connective tissue or muscle wall. Hernias usually don’t get better on their own. They tend to get bigger. In rare cases, they can lead to life-threatening complications. That’s why doctors often recommend hernia repair surgery. This type of operation is normally very safe. But like all surgeries, having your hernia removed comes with a number of possible complications. They include: Infection of the wound Blood clots: These can develop because you’re under anesthesia and don’t move for a long period of time. Pain: In most cases, the area will be sore as you heal. But some people develop chronic, long-lasting pain after surgery for a groin hernia, for example. Research shows that using mesh can reduce your risk of this happening by half. DR. What is the difference between laparoscopic hernia repair and regular hernia repair?

A hernia is a hole through the muscle layers in the abdominal wall. Therefore, surgery can be performed from either the abdominal side, as in the laparoscopic approach, or through the skin, as in a traditional, open approach. To a large extent, which procedure a patient chooses should be based on what aspects are most important to him/her. The open approach, on the other hand, is less costly to the insurance provider and can be performed under local anesthesia, while the patient is awake. If you wish to know whether you should opt for laparoscopic hernia repair or regular surgery, then I would suggest consulting a trained professional in the field such as Dr. Mehli Nazir. DR. Do I require further visits to the doctor after a hernia repair surgery?

Patients are recommended a follow-up appointment two weeks after hernia repair surgery to ensure that their pain is well controlled and there are no infections. Patients who undergo minimally invasive surgery are usually able to go home the same day and are able to walk the night of the surgery. Depending on the patient’s progress, a second follow-up appointment may be necessary. Consult experienced surgeons such as Dr. Mehli Nazir to understand all the steps you need to follow as part of your hernia repair process. DR. I require a hernia specialist to treat my hernia. Can anyone recommend a good hernia specialist?

There are many different types of hernias that can be treated in different ways. A rule of thumb to recognize the type of hernia you are suffering from is to identify where on the body the hernia is located. The most common places are: Inguinal hernia (inner groin) Incisional hernia (resulting from an incision) Femoral hernia (outer groin) Umbilical hernia (belly button) Hiatal hernia (upper stomach) Ultimately, all hernias are caused by a combination of pressure and an opening or weakness of muscle or fascia; the pressure pushes an organ or tissue through the opening or weak spot. I would recommend consulting trained experts and hernia specialists such as Dr. Mehli Nazir for an accurate diagnosis and a more extensive understanding of the type of hernia you have and the treatment required for a hernia. Types of hernia repair surgery?

A hernia occurs when an organ or internal tissue breaks through a hole in the muscles.   Hernia repair surgery   involves returning the displaced tissues to their proper position. There are a few different types of hernia which have an impact on how these hernias are treated. These are: Reducible hernia: When the hernia can be pushed back into the opening it came through. Irreducible or incarcerated hernia: When the organ or abdominal tissues have filled the hernia sac, and it cannot be pushed back through the hole it came through. Strangulated hernia: When part of an organ or tissue becomes stuck inside the hernia with its blood supply often cut off. The two types of hernia repair surgery are: Herniorrhaphy This method involves making a long incision directly over the hernia and then using surgical tools to open the cut enough to access it. The surgeon stitches the sides of the muscle opening or hole through which the hernia protruded. Once the wound has been sterilize...

Laparoscopic or open hernia repair?

A hernia is a tear in your muscle or tissue that allows part of your insides to stick out. It can appear as a bulge on the body near your intestines. In its earlier stages, a hernia can be repaired and treated through changes to one’s diet. However, if the pain is too great to bear, then surgery is the way to go. Laparoscopic surgery Laparoscopic surgery uses a tiny camera and miniaturized surgical equipment to repair the hernia using only a few small incisions. This method is comparatively a lot less damaging to the surrounding tissue. Recovery from hernia after laparoscopic surgery begins with the commencement of fluids and diet after a period of 5 hrs after surgery. The patient can typically go home the following day. In the case of more complex hernia repairs, the patient has a hospital stay for a further 2 -3 days, Resumption of work begins 2 -3 days after surgery. Open surgery Laparoscopy allows the surgeon to avoid scar tissue from an earlier hernia repair, so it might be ...

How to recognise a hernia specialist?

A hernia is a tear in your muscle or tissue that allows part of your insides to stick out. It can appear as a bulge on the body near your intestines. There are three methods of treating hernia. Naturally Laparoscopic surgery Open surgery Natural hernia repair methods include losing weight, eating a healthier diet, avoiding strain or using proper techniques for lifting heavy objects and changing your habits. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive method of surgery. Your doctor or surgeon will make small cuts in the affected area to fix the hernia. Open repair surgery requires a larger cut to make the repair. A hernia specialist is one who has been in the field long enough and someone who has the expertise to back it up. One such hernia specialist that I would recommend is Dr Mehli Nazir. DR. Is hernia surgery painful?

It does not need to be.   Hernia surgery   is generally used to repair an abnormal protrusion of the intestine. There are two surgical methods that can be used to repair a hernia. Open or laparoscopic surgery. Open surgery requires one large incision. Through this incision, the abnormal protrusion is either pushed back, tied off or removed. This method leaves scars on the patient’s body and the patient can take somewhere around 3 weeks to recover.   Laparoscopic surgery   in comparison requires a few minor cuts. With the surgery taking 1-2 hours and the patient is able to resume their daily lives 2-3 days after the surgery. Both methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, but purely on the basis of which one is more painful, it would have to be open hernia surgery. To get laparoscopic hernia repair you can consult one of the   best laparoscopic surgeons in India , Dr Mehli Nazir. DR. MEHLI NAZIR’S CLINIC : E:  contact@mehlinazir.com T : +91 ...
