Is cholecystectomy a major surgery?

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of your gallbladder through several small incisions and a laparoscope. The gallbladder is located in the upper right side of your abdomen under the liver and is the section of the body which stores and produces bile produced by the liver. Gallstones are quite often the cause for opting for a cholecystectomy. Gallstones are solid particles that form from bile, cholesterol and bilirubin in the gallbladder.
